BAE Systems and Navistar announced their collaboration in October 2007 to take advantage of combined capabilities that most effectively support the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Family of Vehicles program. Only four months later, the team unveiled its first Valanx prototype at the 2008 Association of the U.S. Army Winter Symposium.
Pairing the defense industry’s most innovative vehicle design and development firm in BAE Systems, with the nation’s most capable high-volume producer of military trucks and spare parts, Navistar, the team is already working together for the benefit of the joint U.S. customer on programs like Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.
The teaming arrangement builds off the two companies' current leadership in armored and tactical vehicle development and support. Combined, this team has produced 83 percent of all MRAPs used by the U.S. government to date, and is applying this same design, production and support commitment to the JLTV program.

Vehicle design excellence

- Navistar is a world leading truck manufacturer producing, on average, more than 100,000 vehicles per year. Navistar produced more than a half-million diesel engines in 2007.

- Navistar supports a high-performance global logistics base.
- BAE Systems manufactures and supports more fielded families of vehicles than any other combat vehicle provider (Bradley, M109, M113, M88, AAV, MRAP).
- BAE Systems and Navistar both support the products they field in combat and peacetime, with parts and service support as well as a professional cadre of field service representatives.
